The problem
A fencing and landscaping contractor wrote quotes by hand. Turnaround was slow, and pricing was inconsistent because each quote had to be worked through as a separate task.
The contractor needed a repeatable way to turn job measurements into a quote without giving up control of the prices used for the work. The process had to cover fence, sod, and landscaping quotes.
The problem was narrow and practical. The measurements already described the job. The missing piece was a tool that could apply the owner's pricing rules consistently and prepare the finished quote for delivery.
What we built
We built a rules-based quoting tool. Rules-based means the tool applies the same instructions to the same kind of input. Here, the inputs are job measurements and the instructions come from price tables controlled by the owner.
The tool turns those measurements into fence, sod, and landscaping quotes. It then creates a quote PDF that can be sent by email. The owner remains responsible for the price tables, while the tool applies those tables to the measurements entered for a job.
This structure keeps the calculation method in one place. The quote is prepared from the measurements and the owner's current rules rather than being rewritten by hand for each request.
- Job measurements used as the starting input.
- Fence, sod, and landscaping quote rules.
- Price tables controlled by the owner.
- A quote PDF prepared for email.
What changed
The tool changed how the contractor prepared a quote. Measurements, work categories, and the owner's price tables now move through one defined process.
The owner still controls the pricing. The software applies those controlled prices to the job measurements and prepares the document that goes to the customer.
Quotes are produced from the same rules every time and can go out the same day.
